Some systems can record locally without an internet connection. Remote viewing, cloud storage and many phone notifications need connectivity. The exact behaviour depends on the camera and recorder, so we’ll discuss it for your proposed setup.
Yes. A standalone motion alarm can be a useful starting point for a suitable indoor area. A fuller alarm system can bring together motion sensors, door contacts and other devices. Pets, placement and how you arm the system should be considered.
